The HOA did a plumbing clean out and damaged my unit’s flooring. The HOA took responsibility and now they picked a contractor to repair the damage. I want to pick my own licensed specialty contractor. The board has said that they have selected the person to repair the damage and they are the ones who make the selection. So are they right or do I get to select the repair person of my choosing?

J.R., they get to choose the contractor, which only makes sense as they are paying for the work. You should keep an eye on the work being done and make sure they return your floors to as good a condition as possible. If you need to hire a contractor to do additional work once they finish, that would likely be on you. Chances are you will be happy with the work that is performed and that will be that. Good luck!
