J.G. from Windham County, Connecticut writes:
Dear Mister Condo,
Our condo association is responsible for outside of units and common grounds. Does this also make the Association responsible for control/elimination of pests such as bugs, bees, etc. even if there is nothing in our declaration specifically about these nuisances?
Mister Condo replies:
J.G., proper pest control is in the best interest of the association and all unit owners. While the Board may not be obligated by the association’s documents to tackle the problem, they are the elected officials who make those decisions. If you are unhappy with their lack of dealing with the problem, I suggest voting folks into office who will deal with the problem on behalf of all unit owners. Keeping the property nuisance fee is the Board’s responsibility. All the best!
