P.Q. from Fairfield County, Connecticut writes:
Dear Mister Condo,
Is it legal for the secretary of the association to record the meeting, then review the recording to ensure accuracy in preparing the minutes?
Mister Condo replies:
P.Q., in these modern times of cell phones and video cameras everywhere, it is not uncommon for Board Meetings to be recorded by Board Members and/or unit owners. Unless your documents expressly forbid taping of the meetings, I don’t see why the Secretary can’t record the meetings in order to assist him/her for preparing accurate Minutes. After all, the Minutes are the official record of the meeting. The more accurate they are, the better for all. Thanks for the question!
