Dear Mister Condo,
Can my condo board require homeowners to provide their vehicle registration before they can get an electronic card for entry into the recreation area? All vehicles on the property have permits and have already provided this information to obtain a vehicle permit.
Mister Condo replies:
W.V., yes, the condo Board can require registration and proper proof of insurance for any vehicle on the common property, including the recreation area. I am not sure why they would require it twice but it is the association’s recreation area and it is governed by the Board as part of their duties to minimize liability for the association. Requiring proof of registration and insurance is a common practice and helps them keep unauthorized vehicles off the property. All the best!
