Dear Mister Condo,
What can I do when the supposed ‘management company’ constantly and willfully fails to inform us why garbage keeps piling up without removal for weeks. I do not want to go to the city because I am afraid it will lead to a fine on the condo association (which I am regretfully a part of since I am a remorseful owner). I have emailed them. I am going to call tomorrow but I just know I will be stonewalled again. I am tired and I have just been in this place less than a year.
Mister Condo replies:
E.W., I can only imagine your frustration with trash mounting in your association for weeks. Pardon the pun but that stinks! Going to the city may not help at all unless the city is removing your trash. It is more common that a private contractor has the contract to remove the trash. Is there a logo on the dumpster? Do you know the company that handles your trash removal? You could call them and ask why the trash isn’t being removed. Ultimately, the Board is responsible for the trash removal even if the Property Manager is the one taking your calls (and not answering them). Ask a Board Member, go to the next Board meeting, get an answer. Trash removal is a basic service that the association typically provides. If they aren’t handling the task effectively, you have every right to know why. Squeaky wheel will get the grease. And, hopefully, the trash will be removed in timely fashion. Good luck!
