Dear Mister Condo,
Our units were recently painted (in May 2019). Front door and side window panels are white. However, my front door and side window panels are turning black. I first noticed this in August when it started as a dim shadow. Now it is spreading and is much more pronounced. I have emailed and sent pictures to our management, but so far, I have no indication anyone has come to assess it. What can I do?
Mister Condo replies:
J.M., I am sorry that your paint has failed so quickly. Are you the only owner with this particular problem? I know you were not satisfied with the management company’s response but these things do take time. Have you reported the paint failure to the Board? They are the ones who have the ultimate responsibility for the maintenance of the building exteriors. They are the ones who hired and paid the contractor. It is very likely that a warranty claim is in order with the contractor. These problems are typically remedied in short order but not instantly as it would if you were painting your own home and paying for the job yourself. There is a process that you will have to endure but I am confident your paint problem will be resolved. Good luck!
Painting contractor should stand behind his work and redo the job st no cost to association.. if not they picked the wrong painting contractor
