Dear Mister Condo,
The association Board of 2 people decided to let another developer remove a wall that is protecting our units without our OK. We got several signatures saying we don’t want this to happen but the board is receiving $20,000 and say they have made the decision. We think the board should represent all of us not just for their gain. Who can I contact to stop this from happening?
Mister Condo replies:
J.L., I am sorry that you and many of your fellow homeowners find yourselves in disagreement with the two-person Board at your association. Since they are the elected leaders of your association, there are times when they are allowed to make decisions that affect the entire association. However, there is no need for you and your fellow homeowners to re-elect these two people to the Board at the next election. If they have taken an action that homeowners feel violates their responsibilities or oversteps their authority, there are likely procedures for recalling them from office before their term expires. However you remove them from office, keep in mind that you will need to find replacement Board members who are willing to volunteer their own time to serve on the Board. All the best!
